About the Workshop
All social relations are laden with power. Getting out from under dominant power relations and mastering liberatory power is perhaps the most essential skill for changemakers. In this workshop, you learn how power shows up at the personal, interpersonal, and systemic levels. You explore the key ways that power is developed, deployed, and transformed.
We do this through theater games, which actors use to analyze how power moves between characters. Games unlock playfulness, which is an expanded state of mind that fast-tracks us to embodying knowledge. These games allow us to play with power, integrate power frameworks, and enact liberatory power in real time.
Mastering power is about understanding and using patterns. That is why this workshop is centered around pattern recognition and pattern play, so that participants can identify and shift complex power dynamics in real time, even in unexpected scenarios. We make mastering complex power dynamics intuitive, embodied, applicable, and fun. That skill, once honed, is where true power lies.
